Church Life
We invite and welcome visitors to be our guests at any of our worship services or activities. When you arrive we will have a special gift waiting just for you. A relaxed and informal atmosphere where you can just be yourself. Be comfortable, don’t worry about your attire. We won’t embarrass you by asking you to stand and introduce yourself, but we will try hard to make you feel welcome. We believe church is a place of joy and hope, so don’t be afraid to clap your hands or applaud in the Lord if you feel like it, or just sit, listen and beat peace.
If we can provide additional information about Sun Coast Christian Church contact us today.

Our Pastor
Rev. Kathy Wood
Rev. Dr. Kathy Wood is an ordained minister with the United Church of Christ, Southern Conference, Western NC Association. She is the senior pastor of a Disciples of Christ church, Sun Coast Christian Church, and a virtual only church, Meandering Ministries. The Disciples of Christ and the United Church of Christ have an ecumenical partnership. Known as a Full Communion Agreement, it allows clergy to move freely between the denominations if they choose and recognizes each other’s sacraments of Baptism and Communion.
Rev. Wood has a passion for Social Justice, particularly with the LGBTQIA+ and elderly. She has a heart for inclusivity and has been involved in many faith and non-faith based discussions involving Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. She chaperoned many youth missions and thoroughly enjoys working with youth because they bring such a joy to the world and so much excitement to God’s beautiful creations! Although she is older now, she still loves to have fun in everything she does. In addition to her ministry, she has
worked in healthcare management and health sciences higher education for over 40 years.
She has served in ministry most of her life, although not as an ordained
minister until much later in life, so it’s never too late! She currently serves as a volunteer hospital chaplain and in the NODA (No One Dies Alone) efforts with a local health system.
On a personal note, she has four grown children and one grandchild. She is a certified pickleball coach and also enjoys tennis, golf, swimming, bocce ball and is embarking on a new fun fitness adventure in ballet, jazz and tap.
